Chess Academy for Girls
We are an online chess academy created for girls who want to learn, improve, and feel confident while playing. Our goal is to provide a supportive and relatable environment where students can grow both in chess and in themselves.
Chess teaches girls to think without limits
The board is an equal playing field. Here's why chess is one of the most empowering tools we can give young girls.
Our welcoming environment
We are an all-female coaching team creating a safe, encouraging space where girls can learn, make mistakes, grow, and thrive — free from the pressures often found in mixed competitive environments.
“Chess is not just a game. For girls it’s a declaration: I belong at every table.
”

Learning Made Awesome
Tutoring should spark big smiles, curious minds, and plenty of "wow" moments. Our sessions mix clear explanations with fun challenges, so every concept clicks without the yawns.
We meet students where they are and cheer them forward. Short goals, high-fives, and steady progress—yay!—until confidence feels natural and wins follow.
A plan for every Queen-in-Training
Built by Girls for Girls
Female coaches in chess are rare. We lived that firsthand as competitive players — and when we finished competing, we saw an opportunity to change it.
Girls Who Checkmate exists to give girls something we didn't always have: a coach who looks like them. A space that's theirs. An environment where learning chess feels fun, low-pressure, and genuinely welcoming.
Our sessions are designed around how girls actually learn best — at their own pace, with encouragement, real mentorship, and zero intimidation. The skills they pick up go way beyond chess: critical thinking, patience, confidence, and the ability to trust their own judgment.
-
Join a collaborative environment where students learn through shared games, interactive puzzles, and group analysis.
These sessions are designed to build friendships and foster confidence through peer-to-peer engagement on and off the board
-
Receive one-on-one instruction from a Woman Grandmaster or Woman International Master tailored specifically to your unique goals and skill level.
Each lesson focuses on identifying personal strengths and addressing specific challenges to accelerate your competitive growth.
-
Go beyond standard game analysis with personalized guidance on tournament preparation, opening repertoire strategy, and psychological readiness for competitive play.
Our mentors provide the firsthand insights and high-level chess experience needed to help young players navigate tournaments with confidence and reach their full potential.
Whether you're just starting school or getting ready for college, we're here to meet you exactly where you are.
P.S. — Moms are welcome too.
